Legal / Cookies

No tricks in the cookie jar.

DataAF uses a small amount of browser storage for security and preferences. Optional measurement runs only after you choose to allow it.

Essential storage

  • dataaf_session — a secure, HTTP-only session cookie used to keep an authorised user signed in. It is essential to the service.
  • dataaf:telemetry-consent — local storage recording the version, choice and time of your analytics preference.
  • dataaf-theme — local storage remembering your chosen colour theme.
  • Cloudflare may use essential security mechanisms to detect abuse, deliver traffic and protect forms.

Optional analytics

If configured and you select Allow optional analytics, DataAF may load Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity and Cloudflare Web Analytics. These services help us understand visits, performance and experience problems.

They may process page URLs, interactions, broad device and network information, and may use cookies or similar browser technologies. We do not load them merely because you continue browsing.

Your choice

Essential only and Allow optional analytics are presented together. DataAF works if you refuse optional analytics.

Use the persistent Cookie preferences button at the lower edge of the screen to revisit or withdraw your choice at any time. Withdrawal applies from that point onward.

Retention

The session cookie expires when its configured account session ends or when you sign out. Preference and theme storage remain until you change them or clear browser data. Third-party analytics retention is controlled through the relevant provider configuration and is reviewed periodically.

About DataAF Capture

The DataAF Capture script installed on customer websites uses session storage to distinguish a browsing session. Because storage and access technologies fall within UK PECR—not only traditional cookies—customer sites should load optional DataAF measurement only after an appropriate choice unless a documented exemption applies.
